Oct 23, 2015In GRIB-API there exists only "Mean wind direction" (paramId 140242) but without WMO definition. Could we reuse this definition with WMO added?
update: NO as it is for wave model

Oct 23, 2015Add WMO definition to the already existing paramId 3031

May 11, 2016" wdir" seems fine at first as shortName
however, "w" is also the vertical wind component (u,v,w are the three components). Even if "w wind component direction" does not make sense, it could confuse some users. Well, I don' t know, I' m not the expert.

May 11, 2016anyway, it is already in use so we can not change it, lets proceed.
Shahram Najm: should I open a JIRA issue for this separately?

May 11, 2016If any decision is made (and I mean really made with the approval of the Gods of DGOV!), then please raise a JIRA issue
