The joint operational upgrade of the Integrated Forecasting System (IFS) and Artificial Intelligence Forecasting System (AIFS) is planned for the 12 May 2026.
As part of this change, we will stop running the experimental Machine Learning models (Aurora, FourCastNet, GraphCast and Pangu-Weather). Subscribe to forecast_changes-request@lists.ecmwf.int to receive notifications about updates, including when the test data will be available. |

New parameters
With the AIFS ENS v2.0 update we will start producing and disseminating Tropical Cyclone tracks both as charts products and as raw BUFR data.
More detailed information about the new parameters introduced with AIFS ENS v2.0 is provided in the table below.
All parameters except Tropical Cyclone tracks are output in GRIB2 format. Tropical Cyclone tracks are in BUFR format.

Tropical cyclone tracks
Tropical cyclone track forecast will be produced by all 4 daily runs (00/06/12/18) to the step 360.
Tropical cyclone ensemble products will contain 52 members (50 perturbed members, 1 control member and 1 AIFS Single member).
