The backbone of the quality assurance measures in CARRA is the HARMONIE utility packages GL/MONITOR, which provides tools to monitor data assimilation and verify model results to those of observations. For verification, the MONITOR tool is used for quality check of both the near-surface and the upper-air parameters against in-situ data on the synoptic and radio sondes radiosondes observation network. MONITOR is a self-contained, stand-alone package dealing with pre-extracted model and observational data for a set of sites in a given station list.
